Meals on Wheels Narrandera Branch inc. is a non-profit incorporated organisation that provides home delivered meals under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) Program to older people in Narrandera, Baraellan, Grong Grong, The Rock, Urana, Leeton, Henty plus when required many other areas in the Riverina Murray area.
Our inaugural meeting was held on Wednesday 25th September, 1968 at 10.30 a.m. and was chaired by George Bailey.
Initially 10 settings were ordered at a cost of $150-00 which would be delivered by 10 different organisations involved with a driver and helper for the day. The first meal was delivered by the afternoon P W A group on the 14th of October, 1968.
Our organisation is still managed by a volunteer Management Committee which meets monthly. Day to day operations are carried out by paid staff with the assistance of our valuable volunteers.
We are supported by the Commonwealth Department of Health under the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) to support older individuals to remain independent within the community.
